Very old heirloom and still the most widely grown today. One of the handsomest and most popular turnips. Large, rapid-growing variety, with globular-shaped roots. The underground portion of the root is white and the top portion bright purple.

Flesh is pure white, fine grained and sweet in flavor. Sure cropper and splendid keeper.

Turnips taste best when harvest at under 4 inches and after a few light frosts. The tops are also a great edible and should not be wasted.
