Best spinach substitute there is.

Not a true spinach at all!  Perpetual Spinach belongs to the same species as chards and beets, but because it keeps giving healthy green leaves throughout the heat of summer when true spinach has gone to seed it does seem perpetual indeed.

The taste is more like a true spinach than ordinary chard, and the leaves look like spinach too—flatter and more pointed than chard, with slimmer stems. Very longstanding in the garden, yielding from late spring through autumn if planted early.

Very cold tolerant, it can be planted as soon as the soil can be worked and resist bolting right through the heat of the summer. Keep growing well into the winter and can overwinter where the temperature do not dip below 20 degrees.
